The charms of spring extraordinary competition

A great number of connoisseurs of beauty, trendsetters and those who like to look unusual met at the Palace of Pioneers on March, 23-24. For two days, the Palace of Pioneers with the South Ural State University held the Interregional Competition for schoolchildren called "Charmer."

This year the competition was attended by pupils from 7 to 17, from Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions. 84 works were selected from 100 works. They had the honor to participate in competitive shows. Members of the jury, including artists, designers, choreographer, designer and assistant professor of art service and technology of materials processing, reviewed and evaluated 13 collections of clothes, 48 accessories and 25 separate things. But that was not all. On the first day of the Competition, all participants completed tests covering technology. 30 questions were for the older group, 20 - for a middle-aged group and 10 - for the youngest. The questions were not simple. At first glance, familiar words "fly, bananas and Gibus (a famous character from Russian cartoon)" turned out to be difficult to explain. The participants learnt that "bananas" could be worn and "Gibus" could be fold. Then there was a blitz competition for composition and drawing. It was much easier.
All tests were not designed by chance. "This Competition was held third year, and now it is integrated. Guys answer questions on technology, perform and display artwork collection of clothes, accessories. This allows assessing each child individually. A child produced, presented, and even demonstrated knowledge and erudition,"- said the head of the jury Victor Livshits.
The most vivid and spectacular event of the second day competition was the demonstration of clothes, to which participants had been preparing for almost a year. "Berry Mix", "Chess Carnival," "Chocolate Country," "Crazy thread", "Watermelon boom" - were the most unusual names of the collections. Young models, they are also designers and dressmakers, impressed the jury and the audience by a variety of styles, colors, materials. Still, the students of the Palace with the collection "Rag" became the best ones. Their costumes were made from the rag threads and ropes. "First, we decided to take grandmother’s homespun rugs and use them for tailoring. But then we decided that we could weave this kind of cloth. Wove everybody. To make one element of the costume took about two days. It’s a very hard work, "- said the team leader Maria Yurina. The jury assessed their job adequately.
This year there were a lot of interesting, bright and original works.
