According to the rules, after the referee’s words "Start" the operators launched robots and 3 seconds later the robots started to move to the edge of the field and attack the opponent. Face to face to the enemy, the robot could behave in a very different way. Someone was surely going to win. However, there were robots that immediately after the start went to the edge of the field and tried to get out of it. Parents worried about the outcome of matches not less than the participants themselves.

The competitions were heldin three categories: Junior, Standard and Expert. The juniors were boys from elementary school. Everyone got prepared thoroughly. The youngest participants chose the best names for their robots: Killer robots, Brute, Bear, Dragon, Destroyer, BMW and even Death. The robot Death became a winner in this round.

The participants of "expert category" were allowed to use not only standard parts, but also homemade items. But they still had some requirements stipulated by weight and size. The main tactic of attack in sumo is to lift the opponent to its wheels so that it can’t touch the floor.

 The competition was attended by 139 boys, 82 teams. There were no empty seats in the hall of the Palace.
